Compiere Announces Expansion into Manufacturing Applications Market; Open Source ERP Supports Manufacturing Assembly Operations

Redwood Shores, Calif. – Sept. 17, 2008 – Compiere, Inc., the global leader in open source business solutions, today announced the addition of manufacturing-specific functionality for its award-winning open source ERP and CRM business solutions. The company is delivering manufacturing capabilities in phases, the first of which, available in their 3.1 product, is targeted at manufacturers with assembly operations. Capabilities include support for multi-level Bills of Material, work-in-process tracking, completion of final assemblies to shipping, work order costing, the ability to create work orders and select customer specific options at order entry time, and seamless integration with Compiere's existing materials management, purchasing, sales order management and financial systems. Compiere 3.1 is currently available in three editions, professional, standard and community. Additional manufacturing capabilities will be announced in future offerings.

"Manufacturers today face new business pressures that are causing them to rethink their ERP strategies" said Don Klaiss, president and CEO, Compiere. "Most midsize companies that currently have an ERP system are using either custom, in-house developed software, or expensive, inflexible, vendor-dependent software based on technology that is at least a decade old. CIOs and business executives are looking for new alternatives that lower the ERP cost of ownership and improve their ability to respond to business change."

Compiere's rollout of manufacturing industry support is based on input from thousands of existing Compiere users and a global network of VARs and system integrators in 25 countries. The new functionality was developed on an advanced application architecture that allows customers and partners to customize and extend Compiere without programming.

"Having implemented ERP, Warehouse Management and Manufacturing Execution Systems throughout the world during the past 20 years, we are excited about Compiere's entry into the manufacturing market", said Geoff Mobisson, Managing Director of Levementum, based in Chandler, Ariz. "The combination of Compiere's ERP platform and toolkit combined with Levementum's ERP services group provide an offering that is uniquely suited to the needs of mid-size manufacturing businesses in the U.S."
