Milestone Release Brings Functionality and Stability to the Leading Open Source ERP Solution; Advanced Web Architecture at Center of New Professional Edition

Redwood Shores, Calif. – Dec. 4, 2007 – Compiere, Inc., the global leader in open source business solutions, today unveiled Compiere 3.0, a strategic milestone in the company's quest to change the economics of business software and make enterprise resource planning (ERP) easier. Compiere 3.0 includes numerous functional and stability innovations to its open source ERP and customer relationship management (CRM) core. Compiere 3.0 also marks the introduction of Compiere Professional Edition, a new premium offering targeted at larger organizations that require more advanced services and commercial licensing from Compiere.

Compiere Professional Edition leverages the latest generation of Rich Internet Applications (RIA) technology to deliver robust functionality, usability, responsiveness and personalization through a Web browser. Built using standards-based Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and open source Google Web Toolkit technologies, the Compiere Web architecture features secure access from any Internet-enabled computer without installing and configuring client software on user desktops.   • Returns management - Feature-rich, ready-to-deploy functionality to implement return materials authorization (RMA) and return to vendor (RTV) processes.
  • Financial report templates - An expanded set of financial report templates including a new Trial Balance template and refined Sales Reporting templates.
  • Stability and usability - More than 150 usability enhancements, functionality improvements and community contributions.

Expanded Product Editions Bring Choice and Value

The Compiere Professional Edition expands the reach of Compiere's popular line of ERP solutions.

Compiere Community Edition is the world's most popular open source enterprise application and is the foundation for all Compiere product editions. Introduced in 2001 and continually updated over the years, Compiere Community Edition includes all core ERP and CRM functionality, Compiere's Model-driven Application Platform for customizing business rules without programming, and a platform-independent Java client. The 3.0 version of Compiere Community Edition is available immediately as a free download from http://www.compiere.com/products/download/.

Compiere Standard Edition delivers all of the open source software and functionality of Compiere Community Edition and includes technical support, product updates and utilities for managing the migration to later Compiere releases.

The newly introduced Compiere Professional Edition targets mid-market and larger organizations. It includes all software and services available in Compiere Standard Edition plus the new RIA Web architecture, enterprise-level data security and premium support services. Compiere Professional Edition is distributed under an End User license that provides indemnification. All Compiere editions, including Professional Edition, provide access to application source code.
