Compiere Releases Open Source ERP Solution Upgrade

New service pack further enables companies to achieve autonomy across multiple business units while strengthening centralized control

Redwood Shores, Calif. – Apr. 16, 2008 – Compiere, Inc. (www.compiere.com), the global leader in open source business solutions, today announced a new release of its Compiere enterprise resource planning (ERP) and customer relationship management (CRM) solution. The software release includes more than 50 usability enhancements, functionality improvements and community contributions, and further enables companies to achieve business unit autonomy while maintaining centralized control.

Compiere's longstanding multi-organizational capabilities allows companies to maintain decentralized organizational structures and hierarchies such as independent business units, subsidiaries, cost centers, product lines and regions. In this new release, business units can now specify business-unit-specific accounting calendars with unique start dates, end dates and period control at any level throughout the organization.

"Enabling business units to choose accounting calendars that match their individual business needs addresses an important aspect of autonomy," said Don Klaiss, president and CEO of Compiere. "Compiere gives business units the calendars they need to address regional and customer requirements, while ensuring accurate roll-ups for enterprise-wide reporting. This ensures executive management's directives are followed and decision-making is kept as close to the customer, shop floor or warehouse as possible."

The new release also includes Web User Interface usability improvements such as advanced text filtering capabilities that give users the ability to refine the results of an ad hoc query.

Compiere Professional Edition and Compiere Standard Edition are based on Compiere Community Edition, the leading open source ERP solution. To this popular foundation, Compiere Professional adds a Web architecture, enterprise-level data security and premium support services to meet the needs of mid-sized and larger companies who want the very best functionality, usability and support for their Compiere ERP solution. Professional and Standard Edition customers can migrate their production systems to the new release without impacting or changing any of the underlying ERP functionality by using Compiere's automated migration tools.

The new software release is available immediately to Compiere Professional Edition and Standard Edition subscribers and through Compiere authorized partners.
